Draft: a lawyer will review this notice before the pilot.
Last updated: November 2, 2026
BayanBee is a free app where neighbors in the Philippines give away items and surplus food. It is run by Archiel lyn TIANO, the personal information controller under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173). Contact: bayanbeeph@gmail.com.
Your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Facebook, your name (and your Google profile photo; we do not keep Facebook photos). Google or Facebook also gives us an account ID for BayanBee and a link to your profile photo: they stay in our sign-in record, are never shown to anyone, and are erased with your account. The name you choose. Your confirmation that you are 18 or older (if you gave a birth date in an earlier version, it stays private). What you post: listings, photos, wanted posts, messages and ratings. Your barangay and an approximate location, never your exact address. Technical records that keep the service safe, such as sign-in times and IP addresses in our providers' logs. If you turn on phone notifications, the address your phone gives for them. If you invite friends, who joined through your link.
To run BayanBee: show your listings to neighbors, let people chat and arrange pickups, and count Honey. To keep it safe: review listings before they appear, stop spam and abuse, and answer reports. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
Your display name, profile photo, barangay, city, rating and the listings you post. Your email and your age confirmation are never shown. The exact pickup place is shared only in the chat with the person you choose.
Your listing photos are checked by Google's Gemini AI to help keep BayanBee safe: it looks for things that are not allowed and suggests a category and a value for our staff. It never decides alone: a person reviews every listing. While BayanBee is being tested, only testers can post photos, and they are sent to Google's free service, which Google may use to improve its products; before the public launch we switch to Google's paid service, which does not. Hidden location data is removed from photos before they are checked or published.
Supabase (database, sign-in and photo storage) and Vercel (website hosting, and counting page visits without cookies or personal data), on servers in Japan; Google (sign-in with Google, sending emails, and the Gemini AI photo check); Meta (sign-in with Facebook, if you choose it); Cloudflare (the security check on the sign-in form). They process data only to provide their service to us.
Barangay names and codes: Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Philippine Standard Geographic Code. Barangay centre points: “Philippines – Subnational Administrative Boundaries”, OCHA, from NAMRIA and PSA data, on the Humanitarian Data Exchange (data.humdata.org), licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 IGO (CC BY 3.0 IGO, creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo). We changed this data: we keep one centre point per barangay and blur it to about 500 m. Dumaguete City centre point (City Hall): © OpenStreetMap contributors (openstreetmap.org/copyright).
While your account is open. When you delete your account (My account), we erase your data 7 days later, except: if your account was banned, we keep a scrambled copy of your email (it cannot be read back) for one year so it cannot sign up again. Photos of listings that are removed or expire are deleted automatically.
You can see and download your data (My account, Download my data), correct it in the app, delete it (My account, Delete my account), and withdraw your consent. You can also email bayanbeeph@gmail.com, or complain to the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).
Open the menu, then My account, then Delete my account. Your listings come down at once and your account is erased 7 days later; you can cancel by signing in again before then. Can't sign in any more? Email bayanbeeph@gmail.com from the address you signed up with. Step-by-step instructions
If we change this notice, we will tell you in the app.
